American Blackjack is a card game by Nucleus Gaming released on 23 October 2019. This is not a reel slot, but an RNG blackjack table game in which the player competes against the dealer and tries to reach a total closer to 21 without exceeding it.

The game runs in HTML5 and is available on desktop computers, smartphones and tablets. RTP for the Nucleus Gaming version is not disclosed in public catalogues, so the actual theoretical return depends on the rules used by the specific operator and the quality of the basic strategy used by the player.

Game features

• Hit
• Stand
• Double
• Split
• Insurance
• Hole Card
• Blackjack

The main objective is to build a stronger hand than the dealer without exceeding 21 points. After the initial deal, the player can take a card with Hit, stop with Stand, double the bet with Double or divide a pair with Split if the option is available for the current hand.

Insurance is offered when the dealer has a card that creates a risk of blackjack. This wager is separate from the main hand and is used as protection against a natural dealer blackjack.

Rules and gameplay

American Blackjack uses the American game format. The dealer receives one face-up card and one hole card, while the player makes decisions on the hand before the round ends. Descriptions of the Nucleus Gaming version state that the dealer plays to 17 and takes another card on soft 17.

Blackjack is normally the strongest starting combination. A regular winning hand pays according to the standard rules, while equal totals result in a push, meaning the bet is returned. If the player card total exceeds 21, the hand loses regardless of any subsequent actions by the dealer.

Theme and style

American Blackjack uses a classic casino style. The screen shows a card table, chips, cards and clear action buttons. The game belongs to the following categories: blackjack, table games, card games, casino classics and casino games.

Unlike video slots, it has no paylines, reels, Wild or Scatter symbols. The main interest comes from blackjack rules, action selection and the influence of strategy on the result.

Popularity among players

American Blackjack by Nucleus Gaming may appeal to players from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and New Zealand. It is suitable for those who prefer a card format instead of spinning reels.

American Blackjack is particularly useful for users who want to learn the basic actions in blackjack, practise Split and Double, understand how Insurance works and test American rules without risking their balance.
